Soyoung Cho

Korean-born violist Soyoung Cho began violin at age five and viola at age eight. Soyoung is a major prize winner at the Johansen International Competition for Young String Players (2015) and the Osaka International Music Competition (2011). She has served as principal violist of the Korea National University of Arts Orchestra and regularly plays in string quartets and other chamber ensembles. Soyoung has attended various music festivals including the Morningside Music Bridge, Heifetz Institute, Toronto Summer Music Festival and, most recently, the Verbier Academy. She has also performed in recitals in Beijing, Calgary, Toronto, Dubai, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Seoul. She entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2017, where she is currently pursuing her studies with Roberto Diaz and Hsin-Yun Huang. She has previously been a student at the Korea National University and Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts in Seoul, Korea.
