Sara Ferrandez

Sara Ferrandez began studying the viola at age three. Born in Madrid in 1995, she entered the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia at a very young age. After completing her studies in Madrid, she moved to Berlin to study with Tabea Zimmermann with whom she completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Despite her youth, Sara has already performed in major concert halls including the National Concert Hall of Spain, L’Auditori Barcelona where she was presented in the 20/21 season as soloist, the Berlin Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Victoria Hall in Switzerland, and Salzburg Festspielhaus. Sara has been a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic since December 2019. She is also a member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Daniel Barenboim. Since September 2021, she has been attending the Kronberg Academy and studying with Nobuko Imai. She plays on a Nicolas Léonard Tourte bow and a David Tecchler viola, both on loan from Stephan Jansen.
