Mingyue Yu

Born in 2000, Mingyue Yu was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School at the young age of 12 and studied with Professor Wang Shaowu. Currently, Mingyue is pursing her Bachelor of Music degree at the Colburn Conservatory of Music, where she studies with Paul Coletti. Mingyue won second prize at the 22nd International Johannes Brahms Competition in 2015, first prize at the Anton Rubinstein International Viola Competition in 2019, and third prize in the Junior group at the International Viola Competition “Villa de Llanes” in 2013. Last year, she was invited to participate in a concert called “We were born in 2000” celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. She also performed as soloist with conductor Yu Long and the orchestra for the closing ceremony of the Beijing International Music Festival.
