Annariina Jokela

Finnish violist Annariina Jokela started her musical journey at the Music Institute of Lapland, studying with Igor Arias and Taru Lehto. She continued her studies at the Sibelius Academy of the University of Arts Helsinki with Lilli Maijala and Pirkko Simojoki, and then continued her education, earning master’s degrees from both the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Nils Mönkemeyer and at HEMU Lausanne/Sion with Tatjana Masurenko.  

Upon completing her master’s degree with distinction, Ms. Jokela joined the faculty of the Sibelius Academy in 2022 as a viola teacher, concurrently serving as the assistant to visiting viola professor Mönkemeyer. In addition, starting from 2023, she imparts her expertise to aspiring violists at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and has served as a substituting viola lecturer and head of the viola faculty.  

As a soloist, Ms. Jokela has performed with various orchestras, such as the Hamburger Camerata, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra. A sought-after chamber musician, she frequents European festivals like the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival and Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.  

Ms. Jokela is a recipient of a scholarship from Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz and regularly visits orchestras like the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. She has served as a visiting solo violist with ensembles like Tapiola Sinfonietta, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of Lapland. Her career has been supported by foundations, including the Wihuri Foundation, Kauko Sorjonen Foundation, Pro Musica Foundation, Finnish Cultural Foundation, Sibelius Academy Foundation, Martin Wegelius Foundation, and Arts Promotion Center Finland.
